Good Shepherd Baptist Church was formally constituted on 30 August 1978, established by a small group of faithful believers with a shared desire to see Christ honoured and His Word proclaimed.
In the early years, under the leadership of Pastor Sidney Hunter, the church stepped out in faith to secure land in Albany Creek and began building both a permanent home and a lasting ministry. By the mid-1980s, the first auditorium was completed, and alongside it grew key ministries such as the AWANA children’s program and Good Shepherd Christian School. These formative years laid a strong spiritual and practical foundation, marked by sacrifice, vision, and a commitment to reaching families with the Gospel.
In the decades that followed, God continued to grow the church through successive leadership, expanding both its local and global impact. Under Pastor Wayne Sehmish, the church saw many come to faith and developed a greater emphasis on missions, resulting in the Sehmish family being sent to Thailand as missionaries.
From within, Pastor Nathan Lloyd pastored the church for 14 years, strengthening its ministries and overseeing further development of the school facilities.
Since 2021, under Pastor Hernan Hullana, the church has continued to be unified in purpose - grounded in biblical preaching, active fellowship, and faithful service. Building on a rich legacy of God’s provision and guidance, Good Shepherd Baptist Church looks forward with confidence, seeking to carry that heritage forward by His grace.
We seek to glorify God in all that we do, recognising His worthiness in every aspect of life and ministry. Our aim is that every action, attitude and decision reflects His character and brings Him glory. (Revelation 4:11)
We are committed to regularly assembling together as believers, following the pattern and instruction found in Scripture. In our gatherings, we learn from God’s Word, encourage one another, and actively participate in the lives of those around us. (1 John 1:3)
We pursue continual spiritual growth through God's leading and the truth of His Word. As we grow individually, we also deepen our relationships with one another, building a strong and unified church family. (Ephesians 4:15)
We willingly offer our time, talents and treasures for the work God has entrusted to us. Our giving is an expression of stewardship and gratitude, aimed at advancing His purposes. (2 Corinthians 8:3-4)
We are active in sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ wherever God places us. Whether in our homes, communities, workplaces or beyond, we seek to faithfully proclaim Christ to those around us. (Mark 16:15)
